Paisley Kitty and French Bulldog

Please consider joining my blog, especially if you are an artist. I love sharing with other artists and communicating. The net has made it so much easier for all of us to share materials, thoughts, ideas, new products and our artwork. Thank You, Jo / aka Whimzicals.com

New piece, new designs for Tee Shirts and gift items. I paint almost everyday and find it impossible to write everyday, so I must be missing some of the writing gene. I have a partial writing gene. :) My Mom wrote well.

New piece up for Art4Critters this week, a French Bulldog Aceo. Aceo's are very affordable Artwork, miniature pieces. 2.5" x 3.5"
They are Originals that anyone can purchase and own their own collection of art. Think about it!
This is piece #14 of my 52 weeks of donating 100% of the sale to helping the animals in various shelters.

I'm now tweaking the pieces for final printing for the sign company for the Tampa General Neo Natal unit, also known as the NIC unit being built at the Tampa General Hospital. I will put all of the pieces up somewhere together once the tweaking process is complete. Thanks to those of you who ask about this project. It was a great project and lots of fun.

New Week, New Art June 11

A new week, and finally I was able to stay home most of the week, so I was able to get a few new pieces of art done. We have a 5 x 7" watercolor of Pride, A Maine Coon Cat, and a few new ACEO's just because people love them for their affordability. I continue to do one Aceo a week just for the Art4Critters project also, donating 100% of the sale price to whichever rescue or shelter for which it is listed.

Summer has arrived here in Fl... Beach days are here. We are Beaching it a few days a week now, as that is always a joy, sitting by the Ocean, listening to the soothing sounds of the never ending waves rolling in, gentle breezes, people watching and reading a good book. What more could one want.

New Piece for Hospital Project

I have a good start on the next piece in the series for the hospital. This piece is of another Fl. animal, always popular with tourists. The Flamingo. I am still designing as I design as I work. I see that I need more differentiation in the two birds, but I'm sharing a bit of the working process by including this partially completed new piece.
Thanks for looking... Peek at my website if you haven't already.

Meeting a Twitter Friend - Art Festival - Gainesville

Saturday, on both an invitation from a Twitter friend and a whim, Bob and I decided to drive across Florida to a town called Gainesville where they were holding their annual Art Festival. We had been invited by twitter friend ArtbyEve in February, to meet in April at this event. When the time drew near, it didn't seem as though it would work out, but on a whim, Bob and I decided to take advantage of the gorgeous warm weather and drive across the state to the Festival anyway. I quickly "Tweeted" Eve, not really expecting to hear from her, and low and behold, as we were driving toward our destination, my cell rang, and here is this cute little voice asking if I were Jo Lynch. Yes, it was Eve. We were able to meet right on the main street of the Art Festival. Eve is a tiny little fun loving very active artist. What a delight. We strolled down the lovely old tree shaded streets in the center of Gainesville viewing all sorts of awesome artwork. There was a great variety, such as glass, pottery, photography, textiles, paintings of course, drawings, jewelry and more. Many wonderful artists attend this event and it has been considered one of the top festivals in the nation since 1996. Eve and I had a short but terrific visit. We hope to visit one another's art setups sometime later this year. Thank You Eve for making us aware of the Festival. Remember we have a great Art Festival here in Daytona Beach in the Fall.

April 1- Hospital Project Continued...

The Seahorse Piece for the hospital is finished. The colors match up to the color the hospital requested perfectly just in case you're wondering about some of my color choice. The paint chip I had to work from was a misty grey green.

Spring seems to have sprung, at least here in Florida. People are outside again, working on lawns, planting new flowers and smiling because the sun is shinning after such a long cold winter. I had a fight with a snake today, another sign that spring is here. I almost walked on him as he was laying on top of my back steps when I went out with the dogs, and I'm always bare foot. The dogs played attack, until I could put them back in the house, and at that point he was trying to go in the house with them. Luckily for me, he didn't make it inside. I proceeded to chase him off with a broom, and in my lifetime, I've never seen such an aggressive snake. No matter how far I chased him with the broom and or threw him if I could, he actually leapt off the ground and kept lunging back at me. I finally got him all the way to the waters edge and hoped he'd swim away, but all he did was keep an eye on me, even when I'd walked far away. One of my neighbors who was apparently watching through her binoculars said this snake probably has a nest under my steps. Oh Joy... I have narrowed the species down to a non venomous breed and I hope it stays somewhere else.. I normally would have a photo at this point, but it was a long fight, and I was spent by the time I got him into the pond.
